Who were the Templars?
In two decades of the victory of the First Crusade (1095-1099) a group of knights led by Hugues (Hugh) of Payens offered to the Patriarch of Jerusalem to serve as a military force.
This group – often said that nine in number – had a mandate to protect pilgrims Christians on their way to the Holy Land to visit the holy shrines of their faith.
Somewhere between the years AD 1118 – 1120, King Baldwin II granted the group quarters in a wing of Royal Palace on the Temple Mount (Al Aqsa Mosque).
It has been generally accepted that for the first nine years of his existence, the Templars – as it became known – consisted of nine members.
Although it has been widely speculated that the Templars wanted to keep this way to cover their secret mission to dig up the buried treasure on the Temple Mount, the simple fact is that the lifestyle adopted by the Order was not to everyone's taste. As such, Templars had difficulty in recruiting members for their cause in the early years.
In the year 1127 the Cistercian abbot Bernard of Clairvaux, wrote a rule of order of the Templars that was based on the rule of his own Order of Cistercians of conduct. Additionally, Bernard did much to promote the Templars.
Perhaps the Bernard's greatest contribution to the Order was a letter he wrote to Hugh of Payens, entitled De laude novae Militão (Praise of knight again.)
This letter spread throughout Christianity drawing many men of noble birth, who joined the ranks of the Knights Templar. Those who were unable to join often gifted the Templars with land and other valuables.
While it is true that the Templars were not allowed by their own rule, to own much of anything personally, there was no such restriction in the Order as a whole. As such, gifts of land were accepted and subjected to immediate use by the Templars, who cultivated the land to generate additional wealth.
Over the years Templar rose from humble origins to become the wealthiest of the orders cross – finally gaining the favor of the Church and the collective European monarchs.
This wealth generated in the West was the subject of immediate use in the East to buy arms and raise armies. Although the Templars are regarded as the greatest of the medieval military orders, the record shows they have lost more battles than they won. Despite a brutal victory / defeat, the Order played an important role in the Holy Land.
However, after two centuries of defending the Christian faith, the Order was destroyed when Philip IV – known as Philip Belle (Fair) – tried to destroy the Templars.
Historians are generally agreed that Philip was motivated by greed rather than his belief that the Templars were corrupt.
Regardless of their motivations, Philip had the Templars arrested on October 13, 1307.
The Templars were tortured and confessions were given. These confessions were:
Trampling and spitting on the cross
Homosexuality and sodomy
Worshiping an idol
Philip was successful in freeing the Templars of his power and wealth and urged all other Christian leaders to do the same.
In 1312 the Templars were officially disbanded by Pope Clement V at the Council of Vienne. Although the Templars were not guilty of the crimes charged, it was felt that a reputation of the Order had fallen into a state low enough to justify the dissolution of the Order.
March 18, 1314, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay, was burned at the stake for having recanted his earlier admissions of guilt.
De Molay is said to have cursed King Philip and Pope Clement as he burned, asking both men to join him in death within a year.
The story is an apocryphal story, however, is one that has come to be widely accepted.
Although There is no historical truth to the story of Molay's curse both Pope Clement V and Philip IV followed to their graves Molay in the year.

Seymour-James the marketing property specialist for South West France is delighted to promote the sale of a historic palace in the Dordogne – not very far from Bordeaux and Bergerac.
Chateau de Bello Maravau sits on an old Gallo-Roman site of 3 acres, close to Ste Foy La Grande and it is from here that the Templars built a "Viewpoint" in late 12th century. This tower was used for early warning of impending attacks and is still magnificently today as part of the castle. Within the castle grounds, stands another house, 'La Maison des Chevaliers "is also linked to the Templars. The Knights lived here and have Knights received and fellow pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land.
Significantly, La Maison Des Chevaliers has an unusual arched cellar, typical of the construction Templar. At one time an underground passageway also connected the local churchyard to this winery. The winery is almost certainly used later during the 'War Hundred Years' between English and French at 14/15th century and the religious wars in the 16th Century by those fleeing imprisonment or worse.
A legend has broadcast locally and the tunnel which is supposed to be separated at some point near the cemetery. The story goes that a treasure is buried somewhere Templar along the tunnel, or perhaps the valuable furniture of a previous owner. It is impossible to say whether there is indeed a treasure or ever existed, but the owner of the castle believe that is worthy of further research, given the strength of local feeling – another mystery in southwestern France.
From early times, the castle has grown favorably in a splendid house, all maintain excellent order, and with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. It is a place with that rare feeling of mystery and history.

The Medieval Murderers
The Medievil Murderers are a set of four books and anthologies of a group of crime novelists in history.
Created by Michael Jecks, author of the mysteries of the Temple, the group consists of a series of popular historical crime writers (including Michael Jecks, Susanna Gregory, Bernard Knight, Ian Morson, Philip Gooden, and Simon Beaufort), each of writing about detectives in different historical periods. The idea behind the books Murderers Medievil is still a single item or artifact through periods of time, and detectives have to solve the crimes being committed around them. As the Murder books are called medieval, it is not surprising that these crimes are the murder.
The books contain a series of short stories to be alone, the introduction fans of historical characters who have not heard of and provide additional material for the characters they have. There is also a framing story, which describe the origin of the engine, and a modern short end.
Tainted relic covers the original wood chip believed to be part of the cross. Fucking kill anyone who touches, passing along the time surrounded by chaos and murder. Its value is such that men kill to possess her, but the man who has always dies, what the final destination of the sliver in the epilogue bitter irony.
Sword of shame, the second book is an artifact again, this time a sword that is designed to defeat the invaders of Britain, but that in turn leads to a terrible curse. Sword of Shame suffers a bit, because his pride is too close to the first books.
In House of Shadows, the theme is a cursed place. A cursed monastery after the death of a young monk is then followed by years of bad luck and death within its walls. Plots, scheme and intrigue abound, and every time the detectives must unravel the network of its past.
The Lost Prophecies focuses on a book of prophecies cast the coast of Ireland. One of the best in the series, the detectives have to solve the murders around the book – because it would not hurt to know the future?
As an introduction to the historical crime novel, these are useful, especially if you want to try several authors both before deciding on a series. Also fans of an author can appreciate and effectively invited their favorite detectives longer novel.
It is a creative concept for a series, and apart from the sword of shame that is the weakest entry in the series, all books are solid reads. In the fourth book, the authors have managed to pull their styles together and its sections are still together more effectively.
In summary, for fans of historical crime, one of them worth picking. if like them to treat others.

What do the Masons and the Knights Templar of the use of swords? I just found a 1912 in the attic?
How much value are these? What did they use them for? I found one that is in perfect condition: no stains, no cuts, no chips, housed in a casing very ornate. The Masonic symbol of the compass and a lot of other artwork is carved into the sword and the case. Its beautiful. I will not sell. Its not mine. Its just i thought of something to find while looking for an ironing board in an attic.
The sword of value is subjective – it depends on who did the original price, condition, market demand, etc (most of the ceremonial swords have some kind of brand manufacturer that can be researched online). Templar Knights use swords as part of his ceremonial regalia Masonic Lodges use a sword of the outer guard, and Tyler Frankly, if nobody wants the sword, it would be interesting to know who belonged and what Lodge (or Knight Templar Commandery) and belonged to donate to them (if still active).
