What if you have astigmatism too high?
How far can go astigmatism? When it becomes too high, what is the danger? For example, at high risk for certain eye problems and diseases, etc.. Can it be corrected through lifestyle changes?
I am not a professional eye, but: I think most people who go to an optometrist will find they have an astigmatism, probably around 0.25 to 0.5 diopters. If that is all you have, you probably do not care much. The minimum that the trouble of going after with contact lenses is 0.75D. Until about maybe 2D is probably "normal" astigmatism, and until 4 is "a kind of a lot." There are eye diseases that can cause large numbers, like the 10D. I think that astigmatism is more likely the symptom of a vision problem, not the cause. As for lifestyle changes, I do not think there is a solid information studies. People talk about rubbing squinting as excessive or that could lead to more astigmatism. I have read the documents suggesting that habitually or looking sideways with her head bowed, can be causal factors. I suffer from astigmatism and I am disappointed by the apparent lack of interest in finding out what, if any, external factors can cause – in addition to friction genetic age. It definitely has been documented that people with eyelid (bumps that put pressure on the eye) can develop astigmatism will go away when solving the problem of the eyelid. So not everyone is just suffering from a genetic defect.
