The mystique of mortgage amendments

It may seem that a new "super hero" has appeared on the scene, ready to rescue anyone from being defeated by a crippling mortgage, but this is a true "hero" or just a guy wearing a cape? Can rescue mortgage modifications, or is it hype?

What is a modification of the mortgage and what you can actually rescue from the threat of foreclosure?

A mortgage modification is an adjustment to its range of current loan. It has the potential to reduce payments of your current loan, or the rate of interest, although in some cases may be only temporary. In most cases a change will affect mortgages interest on a loan, no principal. Interest is usually what is crippling at first.
